Removing the Display Unit

• 1). Remove the laptop battery.
  
  
• 2). Turn the C300 over with the bottom facing up and the hinges at the top.
  
  
• 3). Unscrew and remove the rectangular RAM/Mini-PCI cover located in the middle of the laptop, directly beneath the laptop's battery.
  
  
• 4). Disconnect the white and black wires from the Mini-PCI card. The Mini-PCI card should be on the right side in the space from which you removed the cover in Step 3.
  
  
• 5). In the space where the battery sat, remove the two screws. The screws are at the very left-most and right-most part of the space. Also, remove the two screws that are in the left-most and right-most corner of the laptop.
  
  
• 6). Flip the computer over, with the keyboard facing up, and remove the switch cover. The switch cover is the plastic piece directly above the keyboard that has the power switch on it. Place a flathead screwdriver underneath the cover at the F1, F5, F11 and Insert keys, then gently push up to detach and remove the cover.
  
  
• 7). Remove the four screws securing the keyboard above the F1, F5, F11 and Insert keys. Then slide the keyboard up, but do not pull it out. Follow the cable connecting the keyboard to the laptop, then disconnect it from the laptop. It should be directly in the middle of the laptop, right above the trackpad.
  
  
• 8). Disconnect the white, rectangular display cable in the upper left corner of the laptop, underneath where the switch cover sat. Also, pull the white and black cables (which are towards the right side of the space where the keyboard sat) out from the laptop.
  
  
• 9). Remove the four screws from the laptop's display hinges that secure the hinges to the laptop. The hinges are in the upper right and left corners. Each hinge has two screws. Lift the display to remove it.
  
  

Removing the Display Hinges

• 1). With the display facing up, remove the one screw from each corner of the display unit, as well as the two screws along the top of the unit.
  
  
• 2). Gently detach the plastic casing from the display unit by flexing the inside edges of the casing until it detaches. Alternatively, run a finger along the inside edges to gently separate the plastic casing.
  
  
• 3). Disconnect the display panel cables located at the bottom of the display panel near the inner side of the hinges.
  
  
• 4). Remove the two screws holding the display hinge covers in place, then remove the two screws underneath the display hinge covers. About an inch towards the middle from those screws, remove another two screws. This will allow the display panel to be separated from the backing part, or the inverter board.
  
  
• 5). Remove the four screws each on the left and right edge of the display panel that hold the display hinges in place. Remove the display hinges.
  
  

Reassembling the Display

• 1). Screw the new display hinges to the display panel at four points each on the right and left edges of the display panel.
  
  
• 2). Place the display panel on the inverter board/backing, then screw the display panel in at the four points on the bottom of the panel. Replace the display hinge covers and screw them into place.
  
  
• 3). Reconnect the display panel cables at the bottom of the panel, then replace the plastic casing onto the display panel by firmly pressing along the edges until it clips in.
  
  
• 4). Screw the casing into the display unit at the four corners and the two points along the top border.
  
  

Reattaching the Display Unit

• 1). Slide the display unit onto the laptop by aligning the hinges in the appropriate place (at the top in the left and right corners). Screw the hinges in place (two screws per hinge).
  
  
• 2). Reconnect the display cable to the system board at the top left corner of the laptop. Also, thread the white and black cables on the right side of the display through the top to the bottom of the laptop. There is a hold in the middle of the laptop, near the bottom to the right of where the keyboard was connected.
  
  
• 3). Reconnect the keyboard, then screw it in place. Also, replace the switch cover and press firmly down on it to secure it in place.
  
  
• 4). Turn the laptop over (bottom facing up, hinges at the top) and replace the screws in the upper corners, as well as the two in the battery space.
  
  
• 5). Reconnect the white and black cables (threaded through from the top of the laptop), to the mini-PCI card. Replace the RAM/Mini-PCI card cover and screw it in.
