Dubai’S Logistics Industry Continues to Keep Upward Momentum
The MoU was signed by Frank-Uwe Ungerer, Country Manager for DHL Express in the UAE, and Nasser Al Madani, Assistant Director General of DAFZA during a meeting at DAFZA's headquarters.
DHL is a specialist international shipping and courier delivery service company that offers a wide range of express parcel and package services along with tracking solutions. The company has a presence in over 220 countries and regions around the world and its workforce exceeds 315,000 employees. The company is part of Deutsche Post DHL, which is the world's leading logistics and postal group. The group consists of three key divisions namely DHL Express, DHL Global Fowarding and DHL Freigh and DHL Supply Chain.
During the signing ceremony, Ungerer said that as a leader in the region's logistics industry, DHL has placed a strong emphasis on best practices and was excited to share its expertise with DAFZA. He said that their partnership is part of the brand's ongoing commitment to developing its business and the business community around it, and Dubai continues to be seen as a prime destination for trade between the East and West.
Al Madani added that DAFZA shared many of the same core principles as DHL, when it comes to the ongoing employee and organisational development. By cementing its partnership with DHL it will be able to further develop important aspects of its business; and look forward to a prosperous partnership.
No strangers to best practices, both companies have achieved numerous awards and accreditations from various organisations. Most recently DHL was named Best Employer' in the Middle East and North Africa for 2014 by Aon Hewitt and, DHL Express UAE was named the top company to work for in the UAE by Great Place to Work.
DAFZA has recently been awarded the prestigious Dubai Quality Award (DQA) for 2013 and was named the Number One Free Zone in the World by Foreign Direct Investment (fDi) magazine in 2012, moving up from second place in 2011. Previous accolades with fDi include number one Middle East free zone of the Future and number one free zone in the Middle East, in its 2011/12 rankings.
