How do I Change the Switch in a Maytag Atlantis Series Washing Machine?
- 1). Unplug the machine and pry open the top.
- 2). Find the slit where the top of the machine meets the front panel and use a plastic putty knife to press the locking clip within the crack. Repeat this process on the other side. You should now be able to easily pull up the top, although the hinges along the back will prevent it from coming all the way off. Continue to lift the top until it comes to a stop.
- 3). Find the two screws on the body of the washing machine that are protecting the lid switch. They are usually on the right side of the machine. Lift off the cover of the lid switch and detach the switch from the casing.
- 4). Place the new switch inside the casing and fit the casing back into the lid-switch holder.
- 5). Screw the lid-switch cover back on and close the top of the machine. Make sure it has
snapped back into place by tugging on the edges.
