While Americans have always enjoyed getting one over on the government, it's important to recognize the distinction between fudging a bit on income taxes and those fraudulent actions solely intended to impair the relief sought by needy families, and, when it comes to intentionally misleading the state or federal authorities on the matter of public assistance, our citizens should not only resist every temptation themselves but also immediately report food stamp fraud or any other sort of welfare thievery as soon as they suspect misbehavior.
