While preparing gifts for a twin baby shower, it is important to decide which items parents need to duplicate and which can still be purchased singly. Twins will only need one baby bathtub, for example, since you can only safely bathe one at a time. You will need two of many items, however, and remember to have the baby shower early since twins often arrive well before their due date. - Twins can sleep together at first, but eventually they will want their own space or will just be too big to share. Plan on having two cribs on your shower wish list. You will need at least three sheets for each crib as well.
- If mom is breastfeeding, be sure a twin nursing pillow is on the registry for the baby shower. A twin nursing pillow helps hold both babies up to the breasts at once and makes nursing twins easier on mom's back and neck.
If the parents-to-be are planing to bottle-feed, they will want to have a full day's supply of bottles plus a few extra so they are not constantly washing bottles. Some babies will eat as often as every two hours. They will need enough nipples. A bottle sterilizer or bottle brush will also be helpful. Buying formula for the new parents can be helpful, but be sure to ask what brand they want.
Asking for two high chairs will make feeding time simpler once babies are ready to join the family at the table as well. - Diapers are a great and simple shower gift that parents will always appreciate. If you are registering, make sure to specify the brand you want. If parents are using cloth diapers, plan to have at least five dozen diapers to start. Parenting magazine states that parents will use about 960-1,440 diapers in the first two months. Look for coupons or ask about special discounts for buying in bulk.
- Parents magazine recommends having at least four sleepers per baby, since they can be used for both day and night and are convenient for frequent diaper changes. Consider buying or asking for clothing in different colors for each baby to easily tell them apart at first.
- Most hospitals require a car seat for each baby before they allow you to leave, so be sure to add two infant or convertible car seats to your registry. A twin stroller can also come in handy when out and about with twins, and some will even accommodate an infant bucket seat until the twins are old enough to sit more upright.
- Parents will want at least one swing or bouncy seat to entertain one baby while they bathe or feed the other.
