Don"t Restrict Your Food Groups

A less obvious way to restrict calories is to limit your food choices.
Some of the so-called 'Calories don't count' plans limit you to just a few specific food groups, others just rule out entire categories of foods such as carbohydrates.
The reason these diets are usually only a temporary success is because people usually get bored with the permitted foods, and eat less, however that very same boredom makes the diet almost impossible to follow for a long period of time, resulting in most of the weight being regained.
The best-known diets are those that cut down on foods rich in calories such as carbohydrates and fats, but do they really work? The first part to the answer is what do we mean by "Is a diet working?" Instant weight loss does not mean long-term weight loss, and often with these low carbohydrate or low fat diets, as soon as one resumes a normal diet, we pile back on the weight.
Diets, such as the Atkins Diet, which are known as low carb diets, are often heralded as successful because the results are instant.
What many don't know is that these diets are only designed to keep the weight off in the short term and are not healthy to follow in the long term as they cut out important food groups such as some fruits and vegetables.
These diets work by making the body burn fat rather than carbohydrates, which sounds great, but in reality, your body may also start digesting its own muscles in order to provide enough energy to survive.
In the long term, this makes it harder for you to keep weight off.
Another down fall of these diets is that your body doesn't discriminate against the fat around your stomach or thighs, and the fat that insulates your kidneys and other vital organs, so following low carb diets for a long time can leave your vital organs prone to damage.
Other unpleasant effects of these diets include ketosis and hypoglycaemia.
Ketosis occurs when cells in your body, such as red blood cells and brain cells, break down proteins into chemicals called ketones, which they use as their energy source.
This state of the body causes your breath to smell like nail varnish remover, and no matter how much water you drink or how often you use mouth wash, you cant get rid of the smell.
Hypoglycaemia is the state of having low blood sugar levels.
It is often associated with people feeling unable to concentrate, bad tempered and listless, and can be dangerous, especially if you are diabetic.
Don't restrict your food groups to loose weight- it doesn't work.
A healthy balanced diet and lots of exercise is the best way to keep your weight under control, as well as keep your concentration and energy levels up and you maintain a bright and cheerful mood.
