How to Make a Bed Board
- 1). Remove any bedding, comforters and pillows and take the mattress off your bed.
- 2). Measure your box spring and trace the dimensions onto one-inch plywood using your pen.
- 3). Cut the plywood using your saw, being sure to make cuts slightly to the outside of your outline. If you make the cuts slightly to the inside, you may find your finished bed board is too small.
- 4). Sand the cut edges until they are smooth. This will help prevent your bedding from snagging on the bed board.
- 5). Place the bed board on your bed frame. Some people position it under the box spring, while others place it between the mattress and the box spring. Experiment with both options to see what is more comfortable when you lie on your bed.
- 6). Put the bedding back onto your bed as you normally would and get ready for a good night's sleep. If the bed board helps but you could use more support, consider cutting a second bed board in the same way. It can be positioned on top of the first bed board or between the mattress and box spring for additional stability.
