Top 5 Fiction Books of the Year - A Brief Review

103 12
With the year 2011 coming to an end, I thought this would be the right time to tell you about my pick of the top 5 fiction books of the year.
This year has been a great one for all lovers of fiction with quite a few amazing fiction books being released and some among them took the literary world by storm.
Although I wanted to pick the top 10 fiction books of the year, I think I'll probably take that out as a second article.
So without further ado, here's my list of the top 5 fiction books of the year.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.
R.
Martin
This epic fantasy series has taken the world by storm and is now also a major HBO production.
With this series, George Martin has created a fantasy world that is both surreal and breathtaking.
It was initially planned as a trilogy but the series has now gone on to five books and two more are expected to be released.
The latest one in the series, A Dance with Dragons, was published this year and has already won numerous awards.
Only Time Will Tell by Jeffery Archer One of my favorite authors to date, Jeffery Archer surprised many critics with his 2011 novel, Only Time Will Tell.
This book is vintage Archer stuff; it has all the hallmarks of being a cracking fiction book.
His style of writing is still the same and with his latest book, Jeffery Arches has delivered yet another masterpiece.
Scarecrow and The Army of Thieves by Matthew Reilly In my opinion, Matthew Reilly is one of the most amazing fiction writers of this decade and yet also one of the most under-rated.
Chances are that very few of you would have even heard of him, but for all those who have, his fiction novels are full of adrenaline, twists and thrills that are bound to leave you on the very edge of your seat.
Inheritance by Christopher Paolini With the fourth and final saga in the Inheritance Cycle, Paolini has produced one of the master-pieces of the year.
This tale of a young boy who finds a dragon egg is one of the best fantasy books I've ever read and definitely tops my list of the top fiction books of the year.
The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz For all you Sherlock Holmes fans out there, this is a dream come true.
This is the 1st Sherlock Holmes novel to be published by another author other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and this amazing fiction book scores on all fronts.
A definite must read for everyone.
