The Blessings of Blogging
In the beginning, blogging was novel, fun, and even experimental.
It was something that quirky people did.
Some talked about their friends, what they did in school, what they intended to do afterwards.
Others described their hobbies, leisure activities and favorite pasttimes.
What concerns me, however, is that you may be missing the blessings of blogging because of the distortions that other people have placed upon it recently.
And so in this article I want to help you to redirect your thinking.
I want to help you to recognize that when it's done properly, there are blessings that come from blogging.
There seem to be three blogging camps on the Web today.
The first is what I call the social camp.
The people that post on these blogs do so for largely the reasons that those before them did at the beginning.
You can say pretty much whatever you want to say, and you are limited to 140 characters.
The second group is the business camp.
You are probably in that group.
You recognize that blogging is an indispensable part of your content marketing strategy, and that if you want to your prospects to find you, then you need to contribute to yours on a regular basis.
The third group are what I call the compost camp.
These people produce the rubbish that is found on the Web.
I only mention them because they are the ones that are getting most of the press.
In other words, it's their bad behavior that's giving the blogging world a bad name.
So now that you know who'se responsible, let's get back to the blessings of blogging.
I suppose that the most important benefit of doing so is that it enables you to touch the lives of so many people.
What I mean by that is that people are helped because of what you have to say.
You provide them with great information, and they in turn apply to their lives.
Just knowing that you're having that kind of impact is a great blessing.
It encourages you to do more, because by doing so, you're able to help even more people.
This may sound trite; but trust me: it isn't.
The second benefit of blogging is that some of those who visit your blog will become part of the community that is already there.
You're probably familiar with the concept of a mastermind group.
The primary benefit of such a group is that their discussion enables them to create ideas that they wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
And so when a community of people read you're blog, and leave comments, the interaction among them adds even more value than what was available through your original post.
The third benefit is that there will be some people who read your content who will want to learn more from you.
And they will pay you for the privilege.
You content will draw them to your blog; but then the continuous diet of valuable information will persuade them that you can help them personally, and they'll invest in you.
They may buy your products, enroll in group coaching, or even ask for 1-on-on help.
It doesn't end there.
A fourth blessing is that when you help your customers, they then tell their friends - your prospects - how much you helped them.
Referrals - word of mouse - is probably the most powerful means to reach more people that you can help.
And because Friend A has such good results with you, Friend B will be more willing to get your help.
The fifth benefit is that it creates opportunities for you to influence communities that you wouldn't normally be able to.
This can occur through invitations to write a guest post, be invited to an online radio channel, or to be interviewed.
These are just five blessings that come from blogging.
I'm sure that there are many more.
But, I hope that I have dispelled any negative ideas that you had about doing so that you'll now recognize the huge responsibility you have to create the very best content you can on every occasion.
