How to Troubleshoot Malibu Lights
- 1). Check to see if the fuses are blown. Under the dash is a fuse panel. Open the fuse panel by turning the release knob clockwise and pulling down on the fuse panel. Locate the fuse puller and position the teeth over the end of the fuses for the lights. Pull each one out and check to see if they are popped. Any blown fuses need to be replaced with the same amperage fuse as the original.
- 2). Check to see if the lights are blown. The lights in your Malibu can be easily removed by prying on the lens cover with a flat-tip screwdriver and pulling the bulb out of the bulb housing. Check to see if the filament is burnt or broken. Any damaged bulbs need to be replaced.
- 3). Open the hood and locate the wiring for the headlights. Inspect the wiring to see if there are any frayed wires. Any damaged wiring here will need to be serviced by a licensed mechanic.
- 4). Unplug the electrical connector running to the headlight bulb housing. Remove the bulb by turning it counterclockwise and pulling the bulb straight out of the housing. If the filament is damaged, replace the bulb. The bulb part number is on the bottom of the bulb.
