How to Make a Paracord Bullwhip
- 1). Buy a length of paracord that is six-times the length of the whip you want to create. You cn buy paracord online or at stores specializing in outdoor recreation. If you have trouble finding paracord, contact a company that offers parachuting trips for advice on where to get some.
- 2). Cut your length of paracord into eight pieces of equal length. Arrange four lengths of paracord next to one another on a flat hard surface. Pass the remaining four pieces of paracord over the pieces that you laid flat perpendicularly. Focus on creating the shape of a cross with all four arms of the same exact length.
- 3). Bend the two ends of the paracord that are the farthest to the left over the cords to create loops. Repeat this process to create eight total loops with the three cords that are remaining.
- 4). Braid all of the cords together by threading the non-looped pieces of cord through the eight loops, passing over the first loop, under the second, over the third. Repeat this process until all eight ends of cords pass through all eight loops.
- 5). Knot the cords by grabbing all eight ends of the looped cord and pulling and then grabbing all eight ends of the woven cords and pulling. Repeat this process until the cords are woven as tightly as possible.
- 6). Repeat Steps 3 through 5. The same paracords should be used for looping each layer of your braid, and the same paracords should be used for weaving each layer of the braid.
- 7). Create a bundle of eight knots at the end of the whip by tying each end of paracord to the opposite end of the same paracord.
- 8). Make a grip by wrapping the whip with three layers of athletic training tape starting 6 inches from the tied off end. Cover all knots with tape.
