Advantage & Disadvantage of Contact Lenses

104 174

    Advantage: Range

    • Because contacts are placed directly on the eye, you can see anywhere and are not limited to the area within the frames of glasses.

    Advantage: Can be Multi-day

    • There are some contacts you can wear overnight, allowing you to see well at all times.

    Advantage: No Scratches

    • Unlike glasses that can scratch and leave blurred areas in your vision, contacts do not come into contact with objects that can scratch them. If something were to happen to a contact, they are easily replaced with another pair.

    Disadvantage: Difficulty Using

    • Some people are very sensitive in the eye area and may find putting in contacts difficult because it requires touching the eye.

    Disadvantage: Increased Risk of Infection

    • Because contacts involve touching the eye and because the lenses sit on the eye for long periods of time, risk of infection is increased. Touching the eye allows contaminants on the skin to enter the eye and any contaminants on the lenses will also enter the eye.

    Disadvantage: Dryness

    • Depending on the lens type, contacts can dry out and cause discomfort.
