Grand Canyon Tours - Picking the Best One

105 14
Many people list the Grand Canyon as one of the places they want to visit. So, how do you make the most of a trip to such a fantastic destination? Take a tour.

Well, it's not exactly that simple, but it's not hard either if you know how to go about it. Here's how.

Your tour choice depends upon the city where you start. It might be a place in Arizona like Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Sedona, or Las Vegas in Nevada.

From Vegas

Las Vegas is a fantastic place to begin a tour to the Grand Canyon, and you can find affordable tours there. You get to pick from airplane, bus, and chopper tours.

The helicopter tours are a lot of fun, but they are popular and seating is limited. Flights leave daily and go to the West Rim. There are air-only and landing tours available.

Air tours are cheapest and the fastest. I, on the other hand, prefer to take my time when it comes to the canyon so I'm usually going for a landing trip. Some of the things you might want to do is add on passes to the glass Skywalk or take a sunset flight.

Airplane Tours Of The Grand Canyon

Airplane tours are similar to the chopper version when it comes to the flight path and add-ons. The main difference is the planes fly at a higher altitude than the choppers. Planes hold more people too, so they are good when you have a large group or can't get a seat on a chopper.

The South Rim also offers helicopter and airplane tours. Chopper tours are thirty or fifty minutes long. The plane version is fifty minutes. No matter which you pick, all are superb. The long chopper ride is probably the best choice since it covers a large swath of the park and you can see a lot in a short amount of time.

About window seats. Everyone loves window seats so you have to pay more to get one. Just keep in mind, when you take a helicopter tour, the seating arrangement is decided by the weight of the passengers. However, I recommend still going for it. It is much easier to get one on an airplane tour since there are more windows available.

Bus Tours To The Grand Canyon

As you can imagine, air tours of the canyon are the most expensive type of tour. Bus tours on the other hand, are much less expensive. These primarily depart from Las Vegas but there are ones out of Phoenix, too. Vegas buses go daily at 7 a.m. The ones from Vegas depart at 7 a.m. If you miss the bus, you are out of luck because they do not depart later in the day.

Vegas buses go to the West Rim and the South Rim. The South Rim is farther away so the ride will be a lot longer. However, all bus tours last all day so don't plan on returning to your hotel until the evening.

Quick bus facts: If you want the Skywalk, you go to the West Rim. If you want the "official" National Park, go to the South Rim. These price for these tours includes the cost of taxes, Park fees, shuttle service, and even lunch.

Wrapping Up

Tours of the Grand Canyon offer plenty of scenic views and fun things to do. Go by bus, chopper, or plane. These tours are very popular so book your seats early to avoid disappointment. Plus, it is easy to do when you book online. You can make your dream to visit the Grand Canyon a reality. Have fun and enjoy the view!
