Ideas for Meeting Celebrities

104 13

    Find the Celebrity Hot Spots

    • Most celebrities live in New York or Los Angeles. If you really want to meet a celebrity or two, consider taking a vacation to one of these places. Search out specific locations in each town where celebrities are most likely to show up. For example, in Los Angeles, a number of celebrities attend the Brentwood Farmer's Market on the weekends or do their grocery shopping at the area Whole Foods. You may spot celebrities in local parks or running along the beach as well.

    Attend a Concert or Play

    • If your favorite actor is appearing in a play, purchase tickets to attend. You may be able to wait by the stage door afterwards for the actor to come out and sign your playbill or pose for a photograph. The same is true for attending a concert. You may be able to get a backstage pass if you head to the venue early and stand by the stage door. At smaller venues, you may be able to approach the band after the show as they pack up.

    How to Behave

    • When you meet a celebrity, don't gush or get overly excited. Remember that she's a person, too, and probably feels uncomfortable when a stranger approaches her and tells her how inspiring or terrific she is. Ask the celebrity politely to sign an object or take a picture with you. Have the object you want autographed ready to go and have a pen handy, too. Keep the encounter simple and don't ask the celebrity to sign a stack of albums or magazine covers.

    Avoid Stalking

    • While meeting a celebrity is exciting, stalking a celebrity is not. You may be able to find out where your favorite celebrity is heading by reading his social networking feeds, but that doesn't mean you should continually follow him around. Once you've got your autograph or photo, leave the celebrity alone. Don't write him letters expressing how exciting your meeting was, send him flowers or constantly show up at events you know he'll be attending.
