The eastern Florida segment of Interstate 95 roughly runs parallel to the Atlantic Ocean, and is within 15 minutes of beach resort cities, such as Amelia Island and Fort Lauderdale. Many beach-front hotels on the Atlantic Ocean are within a half-hour of the freeway, which makes it convenient to visit eastern Florida attractions, including Cape Canaveral and the Daytona International Speedway. Recreation areas, such as Lake Okeechobee and Tiger Bay State Forest, are also close to Interstate 95. - The Amelia Hotel on Amelia Island is in northeastern Florida, and is less than 25 minutes from Interstate 95.
