How to Fix a Central Heating System
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Find the bleed valve on the top edge of each of the heating radiators. The valve is at either the right or left end of the radiator and has a small spring inside that can be compressed.
2
Roll up the towel and hold it directly below the bleed valve, while inserting the radiator key into the valve as far as you can. The towel catches any water runoff during the radiator bleed.
3
Turn the key slowly to the left to open the valve. You will hear the air trapped in the radiator hissing out as you turn the key.
4
Tighten the valve to the right as soon as the water in the radiator starts to flow freely. Wipe the valve dry once it is completely closed.
5
Bleed each of the radiators on the system in the same way to remove any trapped air.
6
Check the pipe connections along the entire track of the heating system. Tighten every single connection with a wrench to eliminate possible leaks.
