The "Dragon Age" Armor in "Mass Effect 2"

104 10

    Appearance

    • The "Mass Effect 2" Blood Dragon armor closely resembles the look of the armor with the same name in "Dragon Age: Origins" and "Dragon Age 2," with a few changes to make it suitable for the science fiction theme of "Mass Effect 2." The armor's appearance resembles futuristic plate armor, almost entirely silver with red and black accents. A large red dragon, the symbol of the "Dragon Age" series of games, decorates the chest and left shoulder of the armor. Unlike the default N7 armor, the colors of the Blood Dragon armor can't be customized.

    Bonuses

    • The Blood Dragon armor offers a power damage increase of 15 percent, the highest of any armor available in the game. Because of this, it is an excellent armor for character classes with a strong reliance on class powers, such as engineers, adepts and sentinels. Additionally, this armor offers a 10 percent increase to shield strength, increasing your character's survivability.

    Occupied Slots

    • When equipped, the Blood Dragon armor covers all gear slots; you can only replace it with another armor as a whole, rather than upgrade specific parts of it as you can with the default N7 armor. Because of this, you may be better served by equipping the N7 armor and customizing it to obtain a mix of stats that suits you, especially if you are playing a class that doesn't make heavy use of class powers, such as the soldier.

    Obtaining the Blood Dragon Armor

    • The Blood Dragon armor requires you to register a copy of the "Dragon Age: Origins" game to the same EA account your "Mass Effect 2" game is registered to. Once you have done so, you will receive a new in-game mail from the Illusive Man. The armor will be immediately available for use in the Normandy's armor closet, in your personal quarters.

    Considerations

    • Although the bonuses provided by the Blood Dragon armor are very good, especially for certain character classes, purchasing a copy of "Dragon Age: Origins" simply to obtain the armor is unlikely to be worth the expense if you have no intention of playing the game. However, if you intend to play "Dragon Age: Origins," the Blood Dragon armor is a nice additional bonus.
