How to Remove the Smoky Smell From a Home
- 1). Determine where the majority of the smoke originates. If you are smoker that is known to kick back in your living room easy chair with a cigarette, the living room would be the best place to start.
- 2). Open all the windows in the home to begin the airing out process. No amount of cleaning solvents will work better than fresh air; however adding these items together will work wonders.
- 3). Pour two cap full of vinegar in a small cloth and begin to wipe down all non fabric surfaces within the home. The vinegar will cut down the smoke smell and overpower the scent. In two to three hours at most, the vinegar smell should dissipate as will the smoky aroma.
- 4). Rent a carpet cleaner vacuum or use a regular scrub brush and vacuum with carpet shampoo to clean all the carpeting within the home. Use the scrub brush to clean all sofa fabrics.
- 5). Spread baking soda or carpet deodorizer onto the carpets and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then vacuum. This will bring about a fresh scent.
