How Do I Clean Red Food Dye Off a Carpet?
- 1). Add two cups of warm water to a small bucket. Mix in one tablespoon of ammonia and one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid.
- 2). Dip a clean, white cloth into the cleaning solution and blot the red dye stain on your carpet.
- 3). Blot until you've absorbed all the dye you can. This method alone could remove all the dye.
- 4). Empty your first bucket, and add another two cups of warm water, along with one tablespoon each of dishwashing liquid and white vinegar. Attempt this method if the first did not eliminate the stain.
- 5). Blot the stain with a new clean, white cloth.
- 6). Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a new white cloth and blot any remaining stain. Continue until the liquid is absorbed.
- 7). Wet a clean cloth with cold water and blot the area to rinse. Blot dry with a new cloth.
