KABAROLE TOP TOURIST SITE IN UGANDA AND ITS HIDDEN TREASURES
Kabarole district contains the Uganda/s amazing stalagmites and stalactites. The features are located in Kabarole in Fort portal whereby one starts the journey from Kampala pass via Mityana, Mubende, Kyenjojo road and finally to Fort portal. They are located in Nyakasula hills and are surrounded by a forest known as Kamutebe rain forest. The stalactite is above and hangs downward like an icicle however the stalagmite is below and stick up. They grow in pairs; the slight acidic water dissolves some of the limestone carrying it down ward. The amazing story about the oozing of milk makes people to visit the place.
The amazing features are approximately 10km away from fort portal town. They are found in the caves and also given a local name known as (AMABARE GA NYINA MWIRU). The name of these caves is based on historical methodology whose origin is widely believed by the local tribe of the Toro kingdom.
The origin is widely believed by them that the breast-like pointed pillars, as a result of Bukuku's beautiful daughter, Nyina Mwiru fleeing to this place in protest of her father's refusal to allow her to marry a man of her choice. Bukuku who was a very rich man served as a chief in the legendary Batembuzi dynasty that are the current Babito kings of Toro and Bunyoro kingdoms.
Inside the caves, the huge flat cave roof basement is dofted with water drops splashing in the magnitude of normal rainfall. The site is surrounded with tourism attractions and resources such as kamutebe rain forest. This is associated with a number of activities like nature walk, bird watching butterfly viewing, and bike riding.
Within the forest, there are also other attractions such as different snake species; primates and all are friendly if not disturbed and endangered by man.
In addition to the above, there are also volcanic hills and these help in mountain climbing. Near the site, there are also volcanic features that may be attractive to the tourists for example crater lakes like kigere and wabikere which are explosion crater lakes. There is also the Saaka laver damed Lake. Inside the caves in the forest, there are bees, clipping steams and roots and it is kind of bushy.
In other words, Kabarole district is covered with green vegetation like forests including the neighboring districts. Back to the town, one will find the royal palace, which is built on a hill in a circular way. It is led by the omukama and everyone can see it in any direction he or she stands. This is because many hills and some of the ranges of mountain Rwenzori surround kabarole district.

Other tourist attractions in western Uganda include, semwema rock shelter is also located 2kms west of kakumira trading center and 1km before musa earth works in kibale district. It is an active shrine of the Bachwezi cult. The shrine is underneath a rock shelter, which can accommodate about 200 people. There is a tunnel within the rock shelter through which the visitors pass to the top and view the country.
Sempaya hot springs are also found in the semliki river valley. They are below the escarpment on the way to Bundibugyo town. They are located in two areas where one is referred to as the (Male) and the other as the (Female). The Bamba carryout cultural ceremonies at both sites.this create love for adventurous purposes to some people especially in the tourism industry.
