Migraines - What Now?

103 9
Do you get migraines? Do you have head pain that throbs to the point that you can't even think straight? Do you get headaches once a month or more? Is modern medicine not working for you? You take prescriptions, which only help temporarily, or maybe your doctor has even told you there is nothing wrong with you.
What are you to do? If this sounds like your situation please read on.
Migraines are complicated, they may be caused or related to many different factors.
Chances are, if modern medicine has failed you they are not looking in the right places.
I can guarantee your migraines are not due to an Imitrex or Excedrin deficiency! Some of the factors that contribute to migraines include, dietary food sensitivities, tight or spastic muscles in the cervical spine(neck), nerve impingement, hormone imbalances stress, and/or poor posture.
In most of the cases I see in my office, migraines are usually caused by a combination of two or more of the above noted factors.
To treat your migraines efficiently, the causes need to be identified.
Once the causes are determined, only then can proper treatment begin.
Medications, whether prescribed or over-the-counter, only help to relieve the symptoms; they do nothing for eliminating the cause of the migraines.
This is why many people suffer endlessly and feel like their migraines are a life sentence.
There is no need to suffer! Chiropractors have been treating headaches and migraines safely for over 100 years.
A simple hands-on physical exam of your neck muscles, posture, and alignment is where most chiropractors begin.
If we think there are other contributing factors (there usually are) then further testing is performed at that point.
Treatments consist of manual therapy (think massage), spinal adjustments and postural training.
Diet is usually discussed as food is a big trigger in setting off migraine headaches.
By addressing these factors your chiropractor is able to truly treat your migraine headaches at the root of their existence.
This leads to a lower rate of reoccurrences, less pain, and less frequent attacks.
If you are not getting the results you want with your current treatments, I highly advise you to seek a second (heck, maybe even a third) opinion from your local chiropractor.
