If you have hear any advice on dealing with an ex girlfriend or even a girlfriend that you are on the "outs" with, then you have probably heard the suggestion that you go through a period of having no contact at all with her. While that may be sound advice in some situations, is it really something that you have to follow or is there something more to the no contact rule that you might be missing out on?
Here is the thing - in most situations, it is the best advice that you can get. However, it is not going to be applicable to all situations. There are those scenarios where you do have to keep in contact with your ex girlfriend and sometimes it is next to impossible to cut off ties with her completely. One situation that I can think of almost immediately is when you have a shared living situation. When that is the case, you really can't go without any contact, can you?
LIMIT THE CONTACT IF YOU CAN'T HAVE NO CONTACT AT ALL -
Since there are situations where you can't have absolutely no contact at all, the next best thing that you can do is to have limited contact. There is a catch to this, though. You can't act like a jerk when you do have contact with her. Some guys will make this mistake. They won't know how to act around their ex girlfriend when they are limiting the contact and so, they try to act as cold to her as they can when they are around her.
That's not something that you want to do.
You want to still be friendly and even a bit flirty with her if you can. The reason why this is good is because you are in effect, giving her little doses of what could be if she were to come back to you. That is what you want her to be thinking about. You want her to be thinking about what life would be like if she were to come back and you want those thoughts to be positive.
So, no, you don't have to follow the no contact rule completely. You can get away with limiting the contact that you have with your ex girlfriend. Just be sure that if you do - you are still cordial and even a bit flirty with her so that you keep some of that spark alive and make her feel like she wants to repair the relationship.
