How to Shorten 2 Horizontal Wood Blinds
- 1). Determine the length you would like the blinds, being careful not to remove more slats than you need.
- 2). Remove the plugs beneath the bottom rail with a flat screwdriver. Set them in a safe place for when you need to replace them later.
- 3). Take the blind lift cord out from the bottom rail. Cut the knot in the end of the cord with scissors.
- 4). Slide out the excess slats through the string ladders that hold them. Make sure you do not remove more than is necessary.
- 5). Place the bottom rail into the string ladder just beneath the last wooden slat.
- 6). Push the string through the hole in the bottom rail and tie a large knot in the end of the string, below the bottom rail.
- 7). Check that the length of the blinds is accurate and cut the excess string below the knot. Shove the cords into the holes in the bottom rail and reattach the plugs.
- 8). Hang the blinds back on the window and raise and lower the blinds with the lift cords to make sure the blinds work properly.
