Check that the engine is cool. Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the coolant reserve container. It is usually a plastic container connected to the radiator by a hose. - 2). Examine the level of the antifreeze in the coolant reserve container. There are two lines on the container marking the "minimum" or "max" levels. If the engine is completely cool the antifreeze should be above the minimum line. If the engine is hot, the antifreeze should be just below the max line. In either case, if the antifreeze is below these levels, additional antifreeze will need to be added.
- 3). Unscrew the cap of the coolant reserve container and carefully insert the funnel into the opening. Open the antifreeze and slowly pour into the funnel. Fill to the appropriate level.
- 4). Remove the funnel and replace the cap on the container. Wipe off any drips or spills on the engine with a cloth. Close the hood of the vehicle.
