How to Say Thank You for Coming to the School Awards Banquet
- 1). Create or buy a favor for each guest to thank them for their attendance. These presents don't have to be elaborate. In fact, something as simple as a piece of chocolate or bag of candy will be appreciated. Consider bringing out the theme with these favors. For example, if the school awards banquet is celebrating the spelling bee winners, give each guest a small bee toy or bag of alphabet magnets. If the banquet is to award the school's swim team, give guests candy shaped as fish. Place the favor in front of each person's seat or invite guests to take one from a basket as they're leaving.
- 2). Say "thank you" to guests during a toast or speech at the banquet. Designate someone, such as the principal or a coach, to say a few words thanking those in attendance. This should include some sentiment about the importance of participating in the students' lives or getting involved with school activities. The speaker can share these thoughts at a podium before presenting the awards, prior to eating a meal or as a way to end the event and say goodnight.
- 3). Seek out guests during the event to personally thank them for their attendance. You don't have to go into long conversations with these people if you don't want to. Simply shake their hands and tell them what a pleasure it was having them there. Look them in the eyes as you speak and be sincere in what you say.
- 4). Send thank-you notes to guests after the school awards banquet is over. If you have the address of each family that attended, send the thank-you notes to them via mail; otherwise give the cards to the students to take home. It's also appropriate to email thank-you notes to those who attended. Additionally, if your school has a newsletter, you might include a short letter of thanks addressed to all who attended the awards banquet.
