How to Seal a VTC Tile
- 1). Wait at least four to five days after installing the VCT to allow the adhesive to set completely. Sweep the floor to remove any dirt or loose debris that could become trapped in the drying sealer. Mop the VCT floor well with a neutral floor cleaner and water to remove any surface dirt and ready the floor for sealing. Allow the floor to dry completely.
- 2). Pour the acrylic polish or sealer into a paint tray for easy access. Dip a paint roller attached to a long handle into the tray and saturate the pad with the sealer. Roll the acrylic onto the VCT with even, slightly overlapping strokes. The floor will look wet and shiny where the sealer is applied; check for dry spots to ensure no area was missed.
- 3). Let the acrylic sealer dry completely until it is no longer tacky to the touch. Apply a second coat in the same manner as the first. If this is the first time sealing the tiles, apply five or six coats of sealer; tiles that have been sealed previously can stop at one or two coats. Allow each coat of sealer to dry completely before applying the next.
