How to Reset the Computer on a 2005 Dodge Caravan
- 1). Look for the OBD (on board diagnostics) port on the lower left side of the steering column and plug the scanner cable into the port. Turn the ignition key to the "Run" position without starting the engine.
- 2). Press the key on the scanner marked "Erase" and the scanner will pull the codes from the computer. Make a note of these codes for cross-reference.
- 3). Open the code sheet that accompanies the scanner and cross-reference the code with that of the code sheet. An explanation will follow the code stating the item in question and the resulting irregularity witnessed by the computer. Turn the key off. At this point the problem must be eliminated in order to proceed.
- 4). Turn the ignition key to run again and this time press the key on the scanner marked "Erase." The computer will be reset and the check engine light turned off until the next problem occurs.
