How to Zipper Flowers
- 1). Unzip the two sides of your zipper so you have two pieces. Remove the pull tab and cut away the little metal pocket attached to the pull tab. These pieces would make your flower bulky and you don't need them.
- 2). Overlap the fabric on the ends of your zipper pieces and glue them together. All the zipper teeth should face the same way. Let the glue dry for about 20 minutes.
- 3). Fold down the last ½ inch of your long zipper ribbon and glue it fast. Press for about 20 seconds so the glue has time to adhere.
- 4). Roll the folded end of the zipper ribbon in on itself, creating a tight, cone-shaped bud. Add glue to the zipper fabric before each roll so the flower stays together.
- 5). Pinch the fabric edges of the zipper ribbon into a point as you roll, allowing the zipper edge to coil more loosely, like flower petals. When finished rolling, glue down the last edge of the fabric and let the glue dry for about 20 minutes.
- 6). Flip the flower over and glue a small circle of felt to the bottom. This covers the messy work at the bottom of the flower and gives you a flat space to attach a snap or pin back.
- 7). Flip the flower over so you can see the top again. Glue a small plastic rhinestone in the center of the flower. White goes well with the silver zipper teeth, though you may use any color you like.
