How to Install a Netgear Wireless PC Card
- 1). Power down your computer and remove the power cord from the electrical outlet.
- 2). Use a small screwdriver to remove the metal case of your desktop computer.
- 3). Locate an open PCI slot on your motherboard. Refer to diagrams from your desktop's manufacturer, if possible. Find diagrams at the manufacturer's website or possibly in your user's manual.
- 4). Press the wireless PCI card into the slot on the motherboard. Be careful not to bend or crack the card, but press firmly to make sure the card is seated completely in the slot.
- 5). Secure the PCI card by tightening the mounting screw on the metal fastening tab.
- 6). Put the case back on. If there's an external antenna on your model, attach it to the connector on the outside of the PCI card.
- 7). Plug the computer back in and power it on. Insert the installation CD that came with your PCI card or follow the "Found New Hardware Wizard" that appears when the computer starts back up.
- 8). Configure your wireless PCI card to connect to your wireless router. Use either the installation CD or the Windows "Hardware Wizard" to enter your network name and password information.
- 9). Connect to the Internet with your new Netgear wireless PCI card.
