    • 1). Cut the piece of 2-inch by 4-inch wood to two pieces measuring 47 inches long each using the circular saw. Cut another two pieces of the 2-inch by 4-inch, each measuring nine and one-quarter inches long. These pieces of wood will be the bench frame base.

    • 2). Form a rectangular shape with the pieces cut in the previous step by lying them out onto a flat surface. Attach the ends of the pieces of wood with the eight framing spikes and a hammer.

    • 3). Cut the piece of 1/4-inch plywood into a rectangular panel measuring nine and one-quarter inches by 50 inches. Attach it to the frame using the 2-inch nails and hammer.

    • 4). Cut the 1-foot by 12-feet piece of plywood into a panel measuring 53 inches. This serves as the bench seat. Connect it using the 1-inch screws through the bottom of the 1/4-inch plywood panel. Allow a 3/4-inch overhang on the front and back edges and a 1-inch and 1/2-inch overhang on each end. Use the tape measure to make sure that the overhang is even on either end.

    • 5). Cut the 3/4-inch piece of plywood into two 11-inch by 17 and 1/4-inch rectangular shaped panels to become the bench ends. Attach each end using the 2-inch nails into the 2-inch by 4-inch brace.

    • 6). Cut the piece of 3/4-inch plywood into four medium sized right triangles with 8-inch sides each. These will become the braces for the bench end panels. Attach a triangular brace to each corner that was formed by the top and side panels of the bench, using four 2-inch nails per triangle.

    • 7). Cut the 2-inch by 4-inch piece of wood into a rail measuring 50 inches long. Measure four inches up from the floor with the tape measure and attach the rail at this point, in between both end panels, using four of the 3-inch nails.

    • 8). Sand any rough edges or uneven spaces using the sandpaper. Fill all holes with wood filler. Use a medium paintbrush to paint or stain the bench.
