Sun Exposure to Prevent Colon Cancer - Vitamin D to Lower Risk of Cancer

We all are afraid of the harmful effects of the sun.
With all the warnings that UV rays are harmful to the body and can potentially cause skin cancer, we might all avoid sunlight altogether.
In this article, however, I will tell you that sunlight exposure might be what you need to prevent cancer.
When we are exposed to sunlight, it stimulates the production of vitamin D.
This is beneficial to the body because vitamin D is essential for good health.
In addition, the shortage of this nutrient may be a link to increased risk to colon cancer.
A research from University of California at San Diego investigated the possible risks associated with low levels of vitamin D in the body.
According to this eight-year study, people with the lowest level of vitamin D had twice the risk of developing colon cancer when compared with the group who has enough of this nutrient.
The research further explained that vitamin D has the capacity to alter the growth of colon cells to help prevent them from becoming malignant later.
Thus, you need to have enough vitamin D to reduce your risks of developing this type of cancer.
Sunlight exposure is very important for stimulation of vitamin D production.
If you have limited exposure to sunlight, then you need to take vitamin D3 supplements.
You are required to pop at least 1000 IU of vitamin D3 during cold seasons like winter when sunlight exposure is very limited.
During summer, you can leave the skin bare for a short period of ten minutes.
Then, you can apply sunscreen if you want to stay under the sun to protect your skin from prolonged sunlight exposure, which may also lead to skin cancer.
