Hydraulic Control Valve Types
- The purpose of a stop valve is to allow hydraulic fluid to flow easily while maintaining the ability to restrict or stop flow either mechanically or electronically. Stop valves are also capable of diverting flow to one or more directions.
- The purpose of a check valve is to force hydraulic fluid to flow one way through the use of a spring-loaded stop. Check valves are especially useful for preventing a back flow of fluid in the event of a leak or loss of pressurization.
- A type of check valve, pressure reducing valves allow for pressure relief in larger hydraulic systems. As fluid flows down a length of pipe its pressure will naturally increase. Pressure reducing valves allow additional pressure to bleed off, maintaining uniform pressure throughout the system.
