  Infidelity is a serious problem in relationships. If you don't trust your partner, you may wonder if he or she is being unfaithful to you. It can be hard to spot the hints of infidelity, but look for a few distinct signs that will point to your jealousy being founded.
  
  

Hiding Phone or Email

• If your partner is extra protective over his phone or computer, this is a red flag for infidelity. Unfaithful partners will usually be sending inappropriate texts or emails to other people, and will try to prevent you from finding this correspondence. If you go to use his phone or computer and he freaks out, that is a sign that he may be cheating.
  
  

Frequent Absences

• If your partner is frequently unavailable, this can be another sign. Cheating partners will make multiple excuses for why they cannot see you; some of these excuses include "out of town," "working late," "shopping" or "at the gym." Of course, these are not always lies and should not be used as evidence of cheating, but if these absences are occurring more and more regularly, this might be a warning sign. This goes along with your partner seeming distracted or ignoring you more and more, as their focus will be on the prospects outside the relationship.
  
  

Efforts to Improve

• Unfaithful partners sometimes try to improve themselves in order to attract people outside the relationship. Watch out for efforts to lose weight, hair appointments, new clothes or new habits improving their grooming and hygiene. If the efforts are especially out of character for your partner, this is a sign of possible infidelity.
  
  

Defensiveness

• When questioned, cheating partners may grow unusually defensive. This is because they feel guilty over their actions, but are angry that you might have an idea of what they are doing. They overcompensate by reacting very strongly when questioned over their whereabouts or interest in other men or women.
  
  

Physical Evidence

• Watch out for strange objects left around the house. If you find strange hairs, hair pins, lip gloss or other foreign items, this is a big sign of infidelity. You might find notes to your partner in his pockets, unexplainable calls on his phone bill or the presence of condoms or birth control where there previously was none. It's important to remember that communication is important if you suspect infidelity, as snooping can just lead to further suspicion and nothing concrete.
