Tow Truck Training
- Tow truck training is generally offered by employers. Often, experienced drivers will work with new employees for several weeks until the new hires are able to carry out towing duties on their own.
- Outside training may be obtained through private companies. Established companies that offer tow truck training include Wreckmaster and the Towing and Recovery Association of America. Outside certification is not required, although it does equip tow truck drivers to work more efficiently and safely.
- Tow truck training programs offer instruction on towing, recovery, up-righting vehicles, moving vehicles out of trenches and ditches, and abnormal towing and recovery practices, among other topics.
