    • 1). Measure the required distance from the beginning of the section of baseboard to the location of the outside corner, and add 1 inch to its length. Use a tape measure. Mark the baseboard to this length using a pencil and set square.

    • 2). Turn the miter saw's locking handle counterclockwise to loosen it, and move it to the zero setting on the saw's bed. This setting will allow the saw blade to make regular 90-degree cuts. Turn the locking handle clockwise to secure the saw blade in position. Position the baseboard section on the miter saw's bed, standing up against the saw's back fence. Ensure that the saw blade is directly above the pencil mark on the baseboard section. Squeeze the trigger on the saw's arm, and pull down the saw arm to cut through the baseboard.

    • 3). Position the baseboard section against the bottom of the wall. The end of the baseboard section should stick out past the outer corner by 1 inch. Run a pencil along the back of the baseboard, where it meets the outer corner of the wall.

    • 4). Loosen the miter saw's locking handle, moving it to the 45-degree setting to the right side of the central zero setting. Tighten the locking handle in place. Position the baseboard on the saw's bed, standing up against the saw's back fence, with the pencil mark directly below the saw blade. Cut through the baseboard with the saw.

    • 5). Cut a second section of baseboard for the other half of the outer corner, measured so it will stick out 1 inch longer past the wall as before. Place this baseboard section against the bottom of the wall at the outer corner, and run the pencil along the back of the baseboard where it meets the outer corner of the wall.

    • 6). Move the miter saw's locking handle to the 45-degree setting on the left side of the central zero setting. Tighten the locking handle in place. Place the second baseboard section on the saw's bed, standing up against the back fence, with the pencil mark directly below the saw blade. Cut through the baseboard with the saw.
