How to Build a Wooden Clothesline Post
- 1). Lay the 4-by-4 and 2-by-4 out on a flat surface you can work on.
- 2). Measure 22 inches in from the end of the 2-by-4, using the measuring tape. Mark it. Then, measure the same distance in from the other end; mark that, too. Mark an "X" in the 4-inch space in the middle of the 2-by-4.
- 3). Place a wide side of the 2-by-4 flat against the end of the 4-by-4, according to Lite Green Living. Position the end of the 4-by-4 so it's in the middle of the block you marked with an "X".
- 4). Secure the 2-by-4 in place from the top, using the drill and a few wood screws. Then, measure 2 inches in from each end of the 2-by-4, and mark those spots with the pencil. From each mark, measure in 11 inches and mark that. Repeat measuring and marking 11-inch spaces two more times.
- 5). Drill starter holes in the 2-by-4 where you marked the 11-inch measurements. You'll have 4 holes total. Then, screw the eye bolts into the holes by hand. The eye bolts will provide anchors to attach the clothesline to, according to Litegreenliving.com.
