Troubleshooting a Toshiba Projection TV

104 9

    Color Settings

    • If the colors on your Toshiba projection television seem too defined, muted or soft it is likely that your television isn't correctlycalibrated. Toshiba projection TVs have a number of preset color settings modes, including High Contrast, Movie, Sports and Games. Use the Picture Mode button on your remote control to change the preset until you find one that looks right to you.

    Heating

    • Because projection televisions tend to be larger than regular LCD or plasma screens, they are more likely to overheat. If your Toshiba projection TV overheats, it will randomly shut itself off after hours of prolonged use. To prevent this, ensure that there is a space of a few inches between the air vent on the back of the TV and the wall. If your TV overheats, don't keep trying to use it. This will only damage it. Leave your TV off and unplugged for 4 to 5 hours and then try turning it back on.

    Edge Enhancing

    • Occasionally, you may notice that the images on screen have awkward, sharp edges around them, making it hard to enjoy the picture. This could simply be that the sharpness is set too high. Use the Settings menu to adjust it accordingly. If the problem remains, consider what you are watching. If it is a DVD produced before 2003, it could be a problem with the disk itself. Early DVDs employed a technology called "edge enhancement," which attempted to make a softer picture look sharper. The technique was abandoned as TV picture technology advanced. If the problem is with the DVD transfer, you'll just have to put up with it.
