How to Locate the Comet Lulin
- 1). Access the Jet Propulsion Laboratory website within the NASA website. Type Jet Propulsion Laboratory within the search box on the NASA website home page. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory will be one of the top search returns.
- 2). Access Solar System Dynamics within the Jet Propulsion Laboratory website. Type "Solar System Dynamics" within the search box of the Jet Propulsion laboratory website and click "Search." The Solar System Dynamics website should be the top search return.
- 3). Click the "Orbits" button within the Solar System Dynamics site.
- 4). Click the "Small-Body Browser" under the Comet and Asteroid Orbit Diagrams.
- 5). Type "Lulin" within the search box that appears. Comet Lulin should be the second search return.
- 6). Click "Orbit Diagram" to track Lulin's orbit through the solar system and beyond. You can change the parameters, such as time lapse and zoom.
- 7). Generate an ephemeris by clicking the "Ephemeris" button. An ephemeris is the precise coordinates of a celestial body at a given time. Generating an ephemeris at NASA's Jet Propulsion site allows you to track and locate the exact position of Lulin.
