How to Sell Your Dog
- 1). Start by posting an ad in your local newspaper. You can offer your dog for free, but this comes with risks. Someone may be interested in getting a free dog to use for fighting. MANY people are doing this these days. If you sell your dog for even a low price, this will ward off many of the people that will want to use your dog for bad things. They will usually move on to some other dog that is free.
- 2). Post an ad on Craigslist under the pet section. This is great to use because it is free and you can add pictures to the site. Be sure to include information such as the age of your dog, sex, breed, if he is fixed or not, etc. You will also want to include the reason you need to get rid of your dog.
- 3). Be completely honest about your reasons for getting rid of your dog. If he is having problems, let people know about it.
- 4). Put up a flier around town advertising your dog is for sale. Many people will see the sign and call you!
- 5). Put up an ad at PetSmart. Usually when you put an ad in the store, the animal has to be available for free, not for sale.
- 6). Your very LAST resort would be the animal shelter. You should only choose this after you have explored all other options.
