It is true that the pyramids have got no rival when it comes to the best attractions in Egypt. But if you set the popularity of these towering structures aside, then there are many other landmarks which are worth a visit as well. Cairo's museums and Luxor's temples also enjoy massive reputation as the best Egypt tourist attractions. But one feels for some lesser known attractions which are quite good but sadly enjoy very low popularity.

Here are some such attractions which deserve more limelight and you should certainly try including them in your itinerary:

1. Coptic attractions: Coptic sites which run on the embankments of the river Nile have a rich history and religion associated with them. They are still toured by pilgrims and spiritual seekers but many first-time tourists do not even consider paying them a visit. However, if you are interested in religious attractions which are also hundreds of years old, then these Coptic sites would surely live up to your expectations. Cairo's Hanging Church is the best example of such sites. The Burnt Monastery is another Coptic attraction which should get greater footage.
2. Temple of Ramesseum: Temple of Ramesseum could have easily been the best attraction of Luxor, had it not been for the existence of the Luxor Temple and the Temple of Karnack! It is in ruins and a temple which evokes a definite reverence and awe for its bucolic charms. Yet, most tourists heading for an Egyptian vacation skip this attraction.
3. Step Pyramids: When we speak of pyramids, the place that instantly comes to the mind is the Giza. Giza definitely houses the tallest and the most popular pyramids of the country. But once you are through with them it won't be a bad idea to head over to Zoser where you can set your sight on the Step Pyramid. It is different in looks and is designed in steps. It is one of the older forms of construction and this pyramid is also amongst the most ancient ones. Despite its charm and historic grandeur, Step Pyramids is one of the less visited Egypt tourist attractions. But it deserves higher footfalls and is certainly thoroughly recommended.
4. Dahab: Dahab is not the greatest place to spend your holiday in. But it was once a small hamlet and its urbanization has been massive. It still houses some quaint landmarks like the Old Fort. Besides, it has some lovely sightseeing sites in the vicinity and offers cheap accommodation and delectable dining options. Its special attractions include Mahraba's old Nabatean Port. It is a ruin and one of its noted tourist spots.
5. Egyptian souqs: Your Egyptian vacation must also comprise of visits to the souqs which are present in cities like Cairo. These bazaars have a frothy personality and they give the tourists a steal glance into the culture, language and lifestyle of the locals.
