How to Hire a Tile Contractor
- 1). Contact local tile supply stores that provide tiles to contractors for any recommendations. Get names of a few commercial tile contractors, as well, who occasionally do residential projects. Commercial tile contractors tend to be more experienced.
- 2). Contact each tile contractor you're considering to ask some preliminary questions about licensing, insurance, years in business and references. Look for contractors who've been in business at least three years, and try to see a minimum of one completed job in person or at least a current job site.
- 3). Get bids from each of the tile contractors you're considering hiring. This bid will include the cost of labor to set the tiles, materials involved and a demolition charge if you have tiles already in place or if the area needs to be prepared at all.
- 4). Check over the guarantee offered very carefully. The tile contractor should offer you a guarantee for both the work and the materials, meaning the tiles themselves. If the tile is being applied near water, the guarantee against water leaks should last at least two years.
