Many people are now looking towards natural home remedies for acne, instead of off-the-shelf products to get rid of their acne problems. This is understandable since it is both convenient and economical to do so at home.

If you want to get rid of acne and ensure clear skin, you need to avoid touching your face every now and then. Most people get into the habit of picking pimples. This can be a big blunder and can actually aggravate acne. Picking pimples sends the infection deeper into the skin resulting in increased bacterial activity.

Honey has antibiotic properties, and when applied to your face as a mask it can fight acne-causing bacteria.

Simply rub fresh cut garlic on the affected area and it dries up almost overnight. The smell is powerful so it is best to use it just before going to bed. I know it sounds crazy but look in almost any herb book and you will find out it is highly recommended for getting rid of acne.

Having plenty of water during the day is also important. Water is not just great for your skin but also flushes out toxins from your body. It can also help calm down bacterial inflammation in your body.

Add a small amount of sugar to your face wash to make a scrub. This will help remove excess dirt from your face. However, you will need to add the sugar right before you wash your face, as the sugar dissolves rather quickly.

We have found that a mixture of olive oil & salt works very well. Make a paste, and wash with it. Use this daily at first, then maintain with 2 or 3 times weekly. My 13 year son swears by it. I know, you think 'oil', but try it, it does work.

Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties, and can be very effective in treating acne. Dilute it with a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil, before applying it to your skin.

Try to constantly wear cotton or any clothes that don't stick to the skin. The good thing about cotton is that it is absorbent, absorbing the sweat and some of the sebum that the back constantly produces. It is also thin enough for air to pass through cooling and drying the back to that there will be less sweat.
