Blowing is the process used to make these intricate little wonders.
They are technically defined as beads that are made from blowing air into tubes to form a series of these beads.
No one is quite sure when this process started but it is believed to be hundreds of years old.
In the early 1800's a man named Hans Grenier developed a method to blow beads and then silver them inside.
It didn't take long for this method to spread all over Europe and then worldwide.
Soon others started developing their own methods of making blown glass beads.
Blown beads are actually created by a process known as lamp working.
Glass rods are melted and also worked over a very intensely hot heat source.
To work smaller items like blown glass beads the heat is turned down a bit.
Lamp working does create some spectacular beads that are worn on jewelry all over the world.
These beads are light, vibrant and very popular among bead lovers to this day.
They come in all kinds of beautiful forms and are used for many purposes.
Many cultures use them at holiday festivals for garlands and decoration.
They can also be used as gorgeous designs on curtains and for throwaways at carnivals.
No one is real sure when these beads actually made their way into India.
It is believed that the same man who brought these beads to Japan was the one who introduced them into the Indian culture.
However the Indians came to know these blown glass beads, they have made a terrific industry out of it.
They also start with a prepared tube, heat it and then snap it into its mold.
Sometimes they also blow a small amount of glass and pull it down.
Then they will form a tube and snap a 2 part mold around it.
They do this by using a trigger that they discharge with their foot.
These glass beads are among some of the best sellers on bead sites online.
They offer them to consumers at a reasonable price in a wide variety of shapes and colors.
The process of melting glass beads is fairly easy, but it does take plenty of time and patience.
