How to Use Facebook For Online Business and Networking

I must admit I was anti-Facebook and had a profile for quite some time before I started using it as a place to meet good friends and a business tool.
The reality is Facebook is phenomenal for quality contacts and business building.
There are a few do's and don'ts that I have learned while networking on Facebook and they can make or break your reputation as a marketer.
I will start with the positives Do's Fill out your profile - Not only does this show that you are a "real" person but also gives the people you connect with a way to get to know you.
Add a picture - People want to put a name with a face and once again show that you are a "real" person.
Join groups and attend events that interest you - You will have a much better chance attaining and maintaining a quality connection with someone.
Play some of the games and other apps that are sent to you and send a few out - not only does this show that you are there for some fun but it is also a great way to get to know faces.
Respond to people's wall posts and emails - You are there to make a connection.
Share helpful tips and information - Let your friends know that you are not only a marketer but are there to help and learn.
Moving on to the Don'ts  Don't spam your friends with links constantly - It is the best way to lose a friend.
Don't just update your status with links - Remember it is a social network and you do have a life, let your friends know that.
Don't combine marketing with a holiday - I learned this the hard way, although it was days before a holiday, it does offend some people.
Don't let Facebook overtake your time- It will if you let it.
Spend a little bit of time daily checking your emails and responding to posts.
Don't join groups you really don't want to participate in - You end up with a full inbox and miss the emails you would find important These are just a few of the helpful and hurtful things I have learned while being on Facebook.
There may be more you will learn along the way.
However, if you follow some basic guidelines like these and be respectful, you should have a great FB experience.
