Converting the WAV file

• 1). Download and install a free WAV-to-MP3 audio converter. There are many basic programs to choose from, such as WAV to MP3 Encoder, Audio MP3 Converter and many more.
  
  
• 2). Locate the WAV file you wish to use as your ringtone. Open the downloaded audio converter and open the file with the program. Depending on the converting software you have chosen, the process will vary slightly; follow the prompts given by the program.
  
  
• 3). Save the file, which is now an MP3, in a location you can easily find.
  
  

Converting the MP3 to a ringtone

• 1). Download and install a free ringtone creator. Choices for free programs include Tonebee, CellSea, AVS Ringtone Maker, and dozens more.
  
  
• 2). Open the ringtone software and load the MP3 file you previously created. As with the WAV-to-MP3 converter, steps may vary slightly, so follow the prompts given by the software. The software will create a cell-phone-ready ringtone.
  
  
• 3). Save the ringtone file where it can be easily found.
  
  

Transferring the ringtone to the phone

• 1). Connect the USB data cord to a USB port on your computer and also to your cell phone. Upload the ringtone to your cell phone. Alternately, depending on the cell phone model you own, it may be possible to email the clip to your phone.
  
  
• 2). Locate the new ringtone. It should have gone to your cell phone's ringtones folder by default.
  
  
• 3). Select the new ringtone as the active ringtone.
