Using the Backup Wizard

• 1). Click on your "Start" button and then "All Programs." "Choose Accessories" and then "System Tools."
  
  
• 2). Click on "Backup" from the System Tools menu to start the Backup Wizard.
  
  
• 3). Click the "Radio" button next to My Documents and Settings. This will back up all the data files, plus your favorites, your desktop and the cookies on your computer. Or, you can choose from the other options if they are more suited to your needs.
  
  
• 4). Click "Next" at the bottom of the screen and choose the backup location on the next screen. Use CDs, DVDs or floppy disks for your backups. By doing this, you will safely store the data separate from the computer. Give the backup an identifying name if you want.
  
  
• 5). Insert the medium, CD, DVD or floppy into the proper drive and click "Finish" on the next screen. You data will be backed up and can be stored in a safe place.
  
  

Choosing Individual Files or Folders to Back up

• 1). Navigate to the directory where the data files you want to back up are stored on your computer.
  
  
• 2). Right-click on the file or folder and select "Send to" from the options given.
  
  
• 3). Choose the drive where you want a copy the files to save an exact copy of the data. This can be a CD, DVD, floppy drive or a flash drive. Floppy drives and flash drives will be written to automatically.
  
  
• 4). Click on the drive letter in My Computer if you are using a CD or DVD. Choose the option to "Write the Files" to CD or DVD from the sidebar window. Your data will then be burned to a CD or DVD that can be stored and recovered if needed.
