How to Send an AVI to the iPhone
- 1). Download a program to convert video file types. HandBrake is a free utility that is available for most operating systems. QuickTime also converts many file types but may require you to purchase a license to run. Both are compatible with PC and Mac operating systems.
- 2). Launch HandBrake. After opening, HandBrake will immediately ask you for the conversion source. Select the AVI file you wish to convert and click "Open."
- 3). Select a video conversion template from the left column. Two options are available for iPhone. Choose the high or low quality depending on if you are concerned about large file sizes. Long videos on the high-quality setting may take up a large amount of storage space.
- 4). Click "Start" to begin the conversion process. This might take some time, depending on your computer's processing power and the length of the video. The converted file will be saved in the same folder as the original with the same name, but with an MP4 file extension. This format is optimized for iTunes and the iPhone.
