NCCN Guidelines on iPhone Applications
- The largest NCCN Guidelines contain medical and treatment information for physicians and other clinicians. The next section, the NCCN Guidelines for Supportive Care, provides information on caring for the cancer patient and overcoming a number of cancer-treatment side effects. While this section can be used by patients and caregivers, it still contains quite a bit of medical jargon. Similarly, NCCN Guidelines for Detection, Prevention, & Risk Reduction contains some information for patients but is mainly targeted towards the medical profession.
- To access the NCCN Guidelines, you must have a membership with NCCN. Access to the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology is available for free, while other paid packages are available that bundle the NCCN Guidelines with other publications.
- All of the sections of the NCCN are available as downloadable PDF files. You can download these files and read them on your computer or print them out. You can also load PDFs onto your iPhone using the iBooks application included with all iPhones.
- If you want to always have the most up-to-date NCCN information on your iPhone, you should download the free iPhone app. The app, titled NCCN Guidelines, was produced by Prolific Interactive and can be downloaded directly from the iTunes store. Once downloaded and installed on your iPhone, you will need to log into the app using your membership information.
