How to Use Financial Aid to Pay for Books and a Computer
- 1). Review the terms of your financial aid agreement in your financial aid paperwork if you don't already know the way in which the aid is disbursed, the areas that you can apply the aid to or the order in which you can apply the aid to different educational expenses.
- 2). Contact the office that handles your aid if you can't find specific details about this information in your paperwork. Ask for details or schedule an appointment to discuss this matter with a financial aid representative.
- 3). Purchase the books with the financial aid as cash or equivalent credit. For example, if aid is disbursed as a cash excess or advance payment, simply locate the books or computer through a campus, other brick-and-mortar or online retailer, and make your purchases. If you receive a credit equivalent to a cash amount to use through a campus or other retailer, ask a retailer representative for instructions on using the credit, select your items and purchase with the credit.
