Scholarships for HVAC Education
- Whether directly related to the HVAC industry or not, a number of foundations provide students interested in pursuing an education in HVAC with scholarship money. In Maine, the Maine Community Foundation administers the Leland R. Dahlgren Scholarship, which is open to high school students from Washburn District High School and Yarmouth High School. Interested applicants must be planning on pursuing a two- or four-year degree in HVAC.
Every year, the Nexstar Legacy Foundation awards the Frank Blau, Jr. Award. It is worth $6,000 and open to a student pursuing an HVAC education at a vocational school, technical or community college or four-year institution. - Along with the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association, three HVAC companies offer HVAC scholarships. A.O. Smith and Bradford White, both manufacturers of water heaters, sponsor $2,500 scholarships, and the Delta Water Faucet Company funds six $2,500 awards. Eligible students must be pursuing an HVAC apprentice program, certificate or degree program or undergraduate degree in HVAC.
- Students seeking HVAC scholarships can also look to HVAC associations and organizations. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE ) offers a number of scholarships for HVAC students, including high school seniors and current college students. Scholarship amounts vary. Scholarships come from the national ASHRAE organization and also from regional branches of the organization.
- At the Pennsylvania College of Technology, students in the HVAC program qualify for the HVAC Program Scholarship, Montour Oil Service Co. D. Richard Thomas Memorial Scholarship and the Jedd Paup Memorial Scholarship. To be eligible for one of the HVAC scholarships at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, students must be enrolled in either the certificate, associate's or bachelor's programs for HVAC, HVAC Technology, Refrigeration or Plumbing.
Students enrolled in the HVAC Technology program at Stark State College in North Canton, Ohio, qualify for three HVAC scholarships. The scholarships award partial to full tuition to a qualifying HVAC student.
